2010 Student Survey Report
As a Registered Training Organisation under the Australian Quality Training Framework, TAFE Western is required to collect, analyse and act on satisfaction data gained by surveying our students.
During 2010 some 2900 students were surveyed via the Internet or by traditional means. The survey consisted of 35 statements that students were requested to Strongly Agree, Agree, Disagree or Strongly Disagree with.
The 35 items were classified into 10 theme areas. The results by theme area, are summarised in the following chart:

In most cases the level of positive response from students - those Agreeing or Strongly Agreeing - was over or around 90%.
Aggregate Satisfaction
The aggregate for all items in the survey is summarised in the following chart:
This result indicates that in response to the 35 survey items by the 2900 students, over 90% were positive ie. Strongly Agreed or Agreed with the statements.
2007 Student and Employer Satisfaction
A 2007 survey of student satisfaction found that 86.5% of Western Institute's graduates were employed or in further study after training and that 77.6% of the graduates who were employed believed that their training was highly or somewhat relevant to their current job.
88.7% of graduates were satisfied with the overall quality of their training and 89.5% had fully or partly achieved their main reason for doing the training. (Source: NCVER's 2007 Student Outcomes Survey, Western Institute Report)
This survey built on the findings of research conducted by TAFE NSW through which 97% of Western Institute's students indicated a good, high or very high level of satisfaction with their training. (Source: TAFE NSW's 2005 Statewide Survey, Western Institute Summary Report)
