Studying at TAFE Western
Whether you are embarking on your first career, looking for a change of direction, seeking more skills or a higher qualification you will find opportunities to fulfil your aspirations amongst the courses we offer.
Vocational education and training programs are offered at our 24 colleges and flexible delivery further increases the available options.
Most courses fall into three main categories although there are variations within these categories.
Full Time Courses
Attendance of between 12 and 30 hours per week.
Part Time Courses
Less than 12 hours per weeks with either day or evening classes.
For Trade courses, this may be by ‘day release’ (that is, one day per week)
or ‘block release’ (that is, three days every three weeks)
Flexible Delivery Courses
Some study patterns allow for learning and assessment to be undertaken in a variety of ways that is not always classroom based or with face-to-face teaching. Flexible Delivery may include, on campus, off campus, distance learning, online learning, selfpaced learning, blended learning, or combinations of these.
TAFE NSW Western Institute provides you with opportunities to:
- Choose from a wider selection of vocational courses than may be available in your local area.
- Study when living some distance from the ‘delivery’ campus
- Learn at your own pace
- Negotiate an individual learning program
- Access print based learning materials for home study
- Receive telephone support from teaching taff
- Attend weekend workshops
- Use resources available at any Western Institute Campus or Campus Library
- Undertake online or computer-based learning
