Student Services – Overview

It’s important to TAFE NSW Western Institute that all of our students can participate productively in the education and training provided across our campuses. To make everyone feel comfortable learning with us, we offer a broad range of support services to our students. This ensures that our teaching environments are safe, enjoyable and conducive to learning.

Student support services that are available across Western Institute include:

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Support Services

Western Institute has the largest Aboriginal enrolment in TAFE NSW and our Aboriginal Education Coordinators can tailor TAFE courses to meet the specific employment and educational needs of our Aboriginal students and Aboriginal communities.

Counselling and Career Services

Western Institute Counsellors offer career and educational counselling to current and prospective students. Our Counsellors have an extensive knowledge of TAFE NSW programs and services, as well as other educational and vocational pathways.

Services for Students with Disabilities

Western Institute employs specialist Consultants for Students with Disabilities to ensure that people with a disability have equal access to our education and training. Our disabilities services are available to both enrolled and prospective students who have a disability.

Library Services

Western Institute offers a comprehensive library service to all of our enrolled students and provides you with automatic borrowing privileges to the extensive TAFE NSW Library network of more than 100 TAFE Libraries.

Outreach Services

Western Institute offers an extensive network of Outreach programs to make our courses accessible to people who face barriers to learning. Our Outreach Coordinators talk with local communities, government and industry to determine the types of local courses that may be needed.
