TAFE Western Students Feature in New TV Commercial

Shayana Naden from Gilgandra and Matthew Fuller from Orange are the stars of the thirty second advertisement that was filmed in and around Dubbo recently.  Shayana and Matthew both graduated from the Indigenous Police Recruitment Our Way Program (IPROWD) in June of this year.

“It was a bit nerve wracking, but good fun and a great experience,” Shay said. Shay and her co-star Matt were chosen to be in the advertisement based on a screen test.  Filming was carried out over a couple of days at Jinchilla Gardens, TAFE Western’s Yarradamarra Centre and under the main bridge in Dubbo.

The advertisement has been produced to help increase TAFE’s engagement with young Aboriginal people.

Rod Towney, Manager of TAFE Western’s Aboriginal Education and Training Unit said, “It is good for us as an organisation to be appealing to an Aboriginal audience.  Education is the key that opens doors.”

“People need education to succeed and TAFE Western is helping Aboriginal people to achieve their aims and aspirations.  We live and work in the communities of western NSW and TAFE Western is currently the preferred provider for education for Aboriginal peoples within not only the state, but the Nation.”
