Food Safety Superviser Training

New food laws in NSW require certain food businesses in the hospitality and retail food service sector to appoint at least one trained Food Safety Supervisor (FSS).

The initiative commenced in October 2010, and businesses need to demonstrate compliance by 1 October 2011.

These new requirements are to help safeguard NSW consumers from food borne illness.

Impacted businesses will need to appoint a Food Safety Supervisor (FSS) and notify the relevant enforcement agency (usually the local council) of this appointment.

The FSS must be trained by a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) approved by the NSW Food Authority.

TAFE Western is an approved RTO with the NSW Food Authority and has trainers working across central and western NSW. The Statement of Attainment for Food Safety Supervisors courses can be delivered in a variety of modes (Online, Flexible distance, face to face workshop).
