Alternative Pathways for Diploma of Civil Construction Design

Western Institute is developing and piloting an innovative training pathway for delivery of the two year Diploma of Civil Construction Design.

In order to address the needs of rural and remote students and the lack of easy access to TAFE campuses, this pilot project will develop a training pathway that will take advantage of new technologies and improved electronic infrastructure so that participants will be able to develop their competence in higher level activities whilst in their own workplace.

The training will be practical and will include work-based, face-to-face workshops and online training delivery. Participants will provide work-based evidence for each of the units of competency included in the program by uploading their work to an online learning environment.

The Diploma of Civil Construction Design pilot programme is funded by the Australian Government Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations under its Alternative Pathways initiative.
