Building, Construction and Architecture
There's never been a better time to start a career in the construction industry. Building and construction employs approximately 800,000 people in Australia. That's 8% of the total workforce and almost the same percentage of the nation's entire economy - which makes it huge and it's expanding!
Interesting and exciting career paths are available in fields as diverse as computer aided design, sales, marketing, estimating, trades, planning, law and landscaping.
People will always need homes along with shops, restaurants, office buildings, roads - anything you care to think of in our built environment. There are many skills required to design, build, promote, maintain and renovate buildings.
Ryan Grives from Bathurst has been named as the Construction and Transport category winner the 2008 Outstanding Graduating Student Awards. He is also the State Medalist for Certificate III in Bricklaying/Blocklaying, winning both the FH Prager Award for 2008 and the Construction Forestry Mining & Energy Union (CFMEU) Award.
