Animal Studies at TAFE Western
TAFE Western offers a a number of Animal Studies courses ranging from Certificate II Animal Studies to Diploma of Equine Massage. The teachers are highly qualified experts in fields ranging from qualified veterinarians and veterniary nurses, to a Delta dog trainer to previous pet shop owners/managers.
TAFE Western offers Animal and Equine Studies across NSW, ACT and other states. Courses can be offered face-to-face, flexible delivery, or with a blended approach.
Certificate II Animal Studies is a key course and is a pre-requisite for most other animal care courses offered through TAFE NSW. This course starts with basic animal care and handling moving onto more advanced skills such as animal first aid. TAFE Western also offers this course via flexible delivery and it commences at the start of every year. Residential schools for this course are held approximately every month in Orange. Students must have a work experience location at least one day each week in an animal care workplace to commence this course. In addition, this course is offered to trainees and TVET students. Following on from the Certificate II course is the Certificate III Companion Animal Services. This course offers a pathway for students wishing to work in pet stores, boarding kennels, in pet grooming establishments or as an animal trainer. Units include Hydrobathing, fish and aquatic care, animal enrichment and dog training methods. This is offered via flexible delivery and commences at the start of every year. Residential schools are held approximately every month in Orange for this course. Students must have a work experience location at least one day each week in an animal care workplace to commence this course.
Certificate IV Veterinary Nursing is designed for students wishing to gain employment as a veterinary nurse. This course is offered face-to-face and by flexible delivery.
TAFE Western offers Diploma of Equine Massage Therapy, a specialist course that is run using blended delivery and runs for two years.
