Course Description

If you want to work as a wall and floor tiler, or are already working in the industry and would like a formal qualification, this is the course for you. You'll learn a range of general work skills such as how to work safely on construction sites, workplace communication, self-management, team work, reading and interpreting plans and specifications, planning and organisation and problem solving. Some of the skills relating to the tiling field of work include preparing wall and floor surfaces, fixing floor and wall tiles, waterproofing wet areas and mosaic tiling. Specific skills include: Communication, Teamwork, Problem solving, Planning and organising, Self-management, Technology.

There are no entry requirements for this qualification.

Before enrolling in this course you must successfully complete the WHS Induction Training (White Card) which will allow you entry into a construction worksite.

Additional Offering Entry Requirements: This is also available as a Trade Skills Recognition Programme - for people who have been working in a trade or industry for at least four years, who do not hold a formal qualification but have gained skills on the job. TAFE Western will assess your skills and recognises the skills and experience you already have. If you need to undertake some skills gap training and action plan will be developed for you with the costs and steps it will take for you to gain recognition.
