Language, Literacy and Numeracy Program
Language, Literacy and Numeracy Program (LLNP)
This program is for people whose English language or reading, writing or maths skills are making it difficult for them to find a job.
If your speaking, reading, writing, study and jobseeking skills are making it difficult for you to find work go to Centrelink or Job Network and ask about free training in the Language, Literacy and Numeracy Program (LLNP).
Benefits of the training
LLNP training is about helping you get the skills you need to get a job. It can:
- improve your spoken and written English language skills
- improve your reading, writing and maths skills
- help you with using a computer
- make it easier for you to get and keep a job by improving skills you need for employment, including team work and communication
- offer you some vocational electives as part of your training
- give you the confidence and skills to do some further study
- offer you the opportunity to participate in Work Experience or Work Observation
In your everyday life LLNP training will also help you with such things as writing letters, filling in forms and reading to your child.
You can still look for work while you are training. To be able to do the training you must be:
- 15 to 64 years of age; and
- registered as a jobseeker with the Department of Family Services (formerly Centrelink) and not a full-time student.
You must also satisfy eligibility criteria relating to income support and visa status.
If you are interested in this training, Department of Family Services or your Job Services Australia (JSA) Provider can check if you are eligible and refer you to your local College of TAFE NSW - Western Institute. Your local TAFE will help you find out what you need to learn and how to go about it.
Phone 1300 662 848 for more information.
Learning process
You can learn at your own pace and attend training as part of a friendly and supportive group. Training is between 10 and 15 hours each week and the total number of hours is agreed between you and your teacher.
