HSC and Tertiary Preparation
Higher School Certificate and Tertiary Preparation
The Certificate IV in Tertiary Preparation, (TPC) (9048) gives students the opportunity to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to gain entry to and succeed in tertiary education and employment.
The Tertiary Preparation program is appropriate if you:
- are considering applying for alternative entry to university or further study
- want a Year 12 equivalent qualification for certain employment purposes or to gain entry to the NSW Police Service
- want to improve your general education
- have not studied for some time
- need to develop effective study and research skills
The program includes the following courses:
- Certificate IV in Tertiary Preparation (TPC), 9048
- Certificate III in Preparation for Vocational and Further Study, 9046
- Statement of Attainment in Preparing for Mathematics & Science Further Study, 9045
The most popular course in the tertiary preparation program is the Certificate IV in Tertiary Preparation (TPC), 9048 because it provides a Tertiary Entrance Score (TES) which may lead to university entrance.
However if students don’t want to complete the entire Certificate IV in Tertiary Preparation (TPC), they may choose other options in the TPC Program because they need particular combinations of units to move to employment of further study.
Students can study the course full time either in class or online. There is also the option of completing the course over a longer period of time if you have family or work commitments.
