Alternative Pathways for Diploma of Civil Construction Design
Western Institute has developed an innovative training pathway for delivery of the two year Diploma of Civil Construction Design which is now in it's final phase.
In order to address the needs of rural and remote students and the lack of easy access to TAFE campuses, this pilot project developed a training pathway to take advantage of new technologies and improved electronic infrastructure so that participants have been able to develop their competence in higher level activities whilst in their own workplace.
The training was practical and included work-based, face-to-face workshops and online training delivery. Participants provided work-based evidence for each of the units of competency included in the program by uploading their work to an online learning environment.
The Diploma of Civil Construction Design pilot programme is funded by the Australian Government Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations under its Alternative Pathways initiative.
