Enrolled Nursing - training and scholarships

From 1 July 2009, the path to becoming an Enrolled Nurse changed from the previous model, where NSW Health employed each trainee. Now people are trained at TAFE before being employed and  practical experience is provided through structured clinical placements in hospitals and other health facilities organised as part of their TAFE training.

Thirty one fully funded scholarships for Enrolled Nursing students were provided at TAFE Western Colleges (Bathurst, Orange and Dubbo)  in July this year.

A further 31 scholarship places will be available in January 2010.

It takes 18 months of full time study for students to complete the Diploma of Enrolled Nursing. See Diploma of Enrolled Nursing for course details or Advanced Diploma of Enrolled Nursing.
