Applying for courses which require an early application
A limited number of "high demand" TAFE NSW courses require you to complete an application. These application courses are specifically identified on this web site and on theTAFE NSW site.
When do applications open?
Applications for Semester 1, 2009 courses open on Monday, 11th August 2008.
When do applications close?
Applications for Semester 1, 2009 courses close on Friday, 31st October 2008.
You will only need to fill out the TAFE NSW Course Application Form if you want to do a course that has the application closing date under the course name.
How do I apply?
To apply for an application course you must complete the "TAFE NSW Course Application Form (Semester One, 2009)" available from any Western Institute Campus.
You then need to deliver or mail your completed application to the campus of your first preference by the application closing date, Friday, 31st October 2008.
Application amendments
If you change your mind about your preferences after you have sent in your application form, you can submit a TAFE NSW Course Application Amendment Form. This must be received by Friday, 31st October 2008 by the campus where you lodged your original application.
How is my application assessed?
Panels of Teachers will assess applications submitted by the closing date using a predetermined set of guidelines.
What happens if my application is successful?
You will be notified of the result of your application in writing in early January 2009. Successful applicants will also be informed of how to enrol online / or in person.
What about courses not requiring an application?
The majority of Western Institute's courses do not require you to complete and submit an application. However, some courses may require you to attend an information session or an interview prior to enrolment. You will find these local arrangements identified when you choose a location for your course.
